Ernest C. Fiebelkorn (9.5 Kills)
77th Fighter Squadron, 20th Fighter Group
Fiebelkorn, a native of Lake Orion, Michigan, was one of the largest fighter
piolts to see action in the European Theather. At 6'4" and 225 pounds, it
was quite a struggle to wedge himself into the cockpit of his P-51. Though
his comabt tour started at a slow pace, he ended the war as the top gun
in the 20th Fighter Group. He scored a triple on 2 November 1944 and shared
in the destruction of an ME-2622 on the 8th of November of the same year.
The victory was scored while he was flying LC N serial Number 44-11161.
This plane may have been "June Nite". Another of his planes was LC F "Miami"
Serial number 44-14823.
