364th Fighter Group

Activated on the 1 Jun. 1943 at Glendale GCAT, Ca. Group trained with P-38s at bases in California during late 1943; Van Nuys AAB, from 12 Aug. 1943; Ontario AAFd, 11 Oct. 1943 and Santa Maria AAFd, 7 Dec. 1943 until departure for port of embarkation on 11 Jan. 1944.
Many personnel transferred after VE-day. Aircraft went to depots in Sep. 1945, and the remaining personnel sailed on the Queen Mary from Southampton on 4 Nov. 1945, arriving in New York 9 Nov. 1945. The Group was established at Camp Kilmer, NJ. and inactivated there on 10 Nov. 1945.
Unit was redesignated the 131st Fighter Group and allotted Mo ANG in 1946. During late 1960s the unit flew as a tactical fighter wing with F-100C.
